Realising curriculum possibilities in Wales: teachers’ initial experiences of re-imagining secondary physical education

This paper provides insight into secondary Physical Education (PE) teachers’ experiences of beginning to re-imagine physical education provision in light the new Curriculum for Wales, 2022 (CfW). Data were generated through analysis semi-structured interviews (n = 5) with PE teachers who participated three workshops which uses a design-thinking methodology. Informed by Ball and colleagues’ conceptualisation policy work, findings draw attention towards how engagement provided foundation participants begin interpretation translation CfW consider re-imagining existing within school context. Participants’ interpretations centred around health activity shaped connection range stakeholders. enabled translate their ideas from pedagogical practices The concludes suggesting teacher’s realisation would be enhanced opportunities further integrate disciplinary health, sport, activity, across national global contexts.
